Yael - Dance Therapy:
Movement, Art, Development and Relationships (MADRe)
“All of us, from cradle to grave, are happiest when life is organized as a series of excursions, long or short, from the secure base provided by our attachment figures.” John Bowlby, A Secure Base (1988)

When and why?
Children having difficulties in regulation - calming down after a crisis; communication - letting the others know what they need or want or think; social capacities - connecting with friends, finding their place within the group.
The first relationships, with both parents, is how children learn to trust, feel secure, share feelings and ideas. This is how later they can connect with others and play together with friends. This is also how they discover their own ways of exploring and learning about the world.
When parents are partners in the therapeutic encounter, they take their experience back home. The change does not stay at the clinic, but moves directly back to everyday life.
This sometimes allows for improvement in whatever the challenge is, to happen more quickly and for a long term.
Parents sometimes need someone to accompany them through the inevitable challenges of being a parent. Thinking about your child, from a different point of vue could change the way you get to know them.
